FMC Discernment 2022

At the Church Conference, held September 18, 2022 at 7 PM in the Sanctuary, the professing membership approved a resolution to disaffiliate from The United Methodist Church and affiliate with The Global Methodist Church by a 76.4% majority.

On December 3, The Texas Annual Conference will meet in a Special Called Session to approve this disaffiliation.

Beginning January 1, 2023, First Methodist Conroe will be a member congregation of The Global Methodist Church.

Since 1870, First Methodist Conroe has been a faithful Wesleyan witness in Montgomery County as a member congregation in The Methodist Episcopal Church, South (1870-1937), The Methodist Church (1937-1968) and The United Methodist Church (1968-2022). Now FMC will continue to make disciples and invite all to experience Life.Better.Together. in Jesus Christ in this new chapter in The Global Methodist Church.

Official Ballot Sample

Called Charge Conference will begin at 7:00 pm on Sunday, September 18, 2022.  Here is the voting process that will be followed for the evening.

  • Doors will open at 6:00 pm.  Early arrival is recommended for check in. The only building doors open for the Charge Conference will be those at the main entrance of the Sanctuary.
  • Upon arrival, those that have pre-registered will proceed to the Pre-Registration Table to pick up your ballot.  Those that have not pre-registered will go to the Check In Table to have their membership validated and have a ballot issued.
  • To receive your ballot at either table, you will need to show a picture ID.  If you have no picture ID, there will be staff available to verify identity.  In the case of a minor with no picture ID, parents will be allowed to verify identity.
  • A signature will be required when ballot is issued.
  • Each ballot, after full verification, will be stamped.  Any ballot without a stamp will not be accepted.
  • When actual voting occurs, ballots will be brought forward and placed in a basket at the front of the sanctuary.  When all are collected the baskets will be taken up to the Chancel (stage area) to be counted by the elected Tellers for the Church Conference.
  • The vote will be announced immediately after the count is completed.

Every Thursday at 12 PM and 7 PM, Pastor Daniel will hold a Zoom meeting with special guests, a time for questions and answers, and an opportunity to share updated information on the discernment process.
