Caring Ministry

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.

John 13:34

About Caring Ministry

FMC’s Caring Ministry is dedicated to helping those who are going through difficult times in their lives. We are called to love, to bear one another’s burdens, to comfort and care in times of need; and there are many groups in our church who have answered this call. Will you be one of them? Find out how!

SUPPORT

Our grief and cancer support groups formed in the church with the realization that community makes a difference when facing difficulties. When we share our struggles, we realize that we don’t face our problems in isolation and we become more aware of the presence of God.

SERVICE

Sometimes all you need is that little something extra; whether it’s a much-needed piece of medical equipment or a home-cooked meal, members in our congregation have generously donated their time to provide the simple things that make difficult circumstances a little more bearable.

For more information about our caring ministries & support groups, please contact Caring Ministries Assistant Kellie Taglioli at (936) 756-3395 Ext. 135 or

Our Stephen Ministry program equips and empowers lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting. Stephen Ministers have gone through extensive training to help them walk alongside those going through difficult situations, such as a death of a spouse, a challenging medical condition, or a life-changing decision-making process. They are not counselors or pastors, but they are a great listening ear. If you or someone you know might benefit from a Stephen Minister, please contact Rev. Janet Stilwell at   or 936-756-3395, ext. 136.

The Gathering Place is a special ministry coordinated through CarePartners of Houston which provides programming and socialization for those who are experiencing memory loss, specifically mild to moderate Alzheimer’s, other dementias or cognitive impairment , and their caregivers. The pandemic put a hold on our Gathering Place, but we are getting ready to start again. If you are interested in The Gathering Place or helping with our monthly get-togethers, please email Rev. Grief Support Group

Grief is a normal response to the loss of someone or something that was the center of their life. It requires the hard work of getting in touch with powerful feelings and honestly expressing those feelings to another person. Most grief is best dealt with in a support group with other grievers and guided by facilitators who themselves have grieved and who know the process of recovery and are caring and compassionate listeners.

Prayer Ministry

We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to act in and through our difficulties.  Our prayer groups provide intercession and hands on prayer for those who are seeking relief or direction.
