Care Quilt Ministry Changes Names
Care Quilt Ministry Changes Its Name to Sew Sisters
As First Methodist Conroe moves forward with Vision 2020, this hard-working group feels that they need to change their name to “SEW SISTERS” in hopes of inspiring members of the church who sew or would like to learn to sew to come and join them. Willing hearts and hands is the only thing that is required. All other equipment will be provided.
The Care Quilt Ministry began back in August 2001, by Pat Melton, a member of FMC. Pat brought forward a plan to provide comfort to those who needed to be physically wrapped in love. Over the past 18 years, more than 1000 quilts have been made and presented to homebound members and those with a life threatening illness as well as our guests in Family Promise and The Gathering Place. More than 100 women have worked on the quilts as an anonymous group because no quilt was made entirely by one person. FMC provided the funds and prayers. Many hands cut, ironed and sewed each quilt therefore every quilt was a gift from you, the congregation.
SEW SISTERS meets on the last Tuesday morning of each month (except December) from 9:00 a.m. to noon in Room M-2.
